Apple components contain illegally produced tin

Apple’s representatives of environmental task group are visiting Indonesia to find out whether tin is really supplied from illegal mines.

Bangka Island, located in Indonesia, is the world center of tin production. Recently, rumors appeared of illegal and unregulated mines operating in the region. That is why Apple initiated a fact-finding visit to carry out a study of local mines so that the situation was under control.

Apple works with nearly 250 suppliers who use tin in producing components. It remains to be seen whether the tin is illegal or not. Meanwhile, Samsung  admitted using illegally mined tin in its products.
