This video is from Vladivostok, a big city in the east part of Russia. It is October 3rd there already. In Moscow and St.-Petersburg the sales will start in about 3.5 hours.

Update: the price was 33000 RUB, which is $1278 for an unlocked 16Gb iPhone.

New racing game got green light from Apple. This game will be avaliable in AppStore soon. Very good 3D graphics, wi-fi multiplayer and much more. Costs $7.99.

One of the major announcements during last week's media event was the return of NBC shows to the iTunes Store. NBC reportedly accounted for 40% of iTunes video sales prior to their removal late last year.

Hollywood Reporter reveals that over 1 million NBC iTunes downloads have been logged since the studio's return on September 9th. Some of those downloads may have been free HD episodes which are currently available from iTunes.

A list of all free HD iTunes episodes provided by TUAW include:

Theiphoneblog just published first screenshots of the new iPhones firmware 2.1.

Running 2.1 (5F136) now, and here’s what we’re noticing: WiFi works fine (tried on Apple and Linksys routers). New icons for connection type (3G/Edge) in the top bar. New blue filled and half-filled dots to describe state of video and podcasts (watched/listened to). Genius Playlists don’t seem to work as well as iTunes 8, at least for me, with lots of songs coming back as “not related”.

Everyone who has owned a cellphone over the last 10 years should at some point pour one out in thanks to Cliff Kushler, one of the inventors of the T9 text entry system. Now Cliff is smartly shifting his focus on touchscreens with Swype—a way to type blindingly fast on a touchscreen by tracing your finger or stylus over the letters you want without lifting up, connect-the-dots style. It looks frankly amazing in a demo:

The creator of this video says: "The iHologram app was not real. It was an illustration of an idea I had which I believe could work with the technology (combining anamorphosis and motion sensing). Unfortunately I’m just an ideas person, and I can show how things should look, but I’m no hardcore programmer."

One of the common complaints about Apple’s iPhone–and one that did not get solved with the launch of the iPhone 3G–is the lack of a copy-paste function. An independent developer Zac White has taken matters in his own hands and founded a non-profit, open source, community project called OpenClip which is offering iPhone developers a free Copy and Paste framework that will add this functionality to their applications.

Developers from Firemint published a video about thier new project GCDC 2008 - 3D racing game for iPhone. Game will support multiplayer mode via Wi-Fi and 3G. The release is scheduled for the end of this year.
