iPhone OS 3.0: messages [screenshots]

One cool feature of Apple's new MMS "Messages" app is the ability to send messages in the background, which lets you type out your second message while you're waiting for the first to send. It's quite helpful when sending very large media messages:

Preview: SpinBoard rotates the icons of the Springboard

iSpazio published several screenshots of an app called SpinBoard. SpinBoard will be available in three different versions, and they've got the third one, rotating icons only 90, 180 and 270 degrees, just as the video shows.

It is not without bugs, however it works nice on the iPhone and very very poorly on iPod Touch.

Zen Bound: just relax [AppStore, Games]

zb

It's called Zen Bound and has been produced by Chilling, the same developers created iDracula, Orions: Legend of Wizards, Sneezies, iPingPong 3D, etc. The game has already won numerous awards for Excellence in 3D (IMGA Awards winner 2009) and Best iPhone Game & Audio Achievement (IGF Mobile 2009).

It's a simple relaxing game. The primary goal is to wrap a rope around wooden sculptures. You just think of fun and relaxation, not about the highest score. There are 51 levels, three game modes. The soundtrack is 22 minutes long, composed by Ghost Monkey.

Here are several screenshots and a video:

Oh My God! They Killed Kenny!

south-park

Today is a depressing day for all of the South Park fans out there. The South Park app has been rejected by Apple:

"We first announced our iPhone App back in October, after we submitted the Application to Apple for approval. After a couple of attempts to get the application approved, we are sad to say that our app has been rejected. According to Apple, the content was "potentially offensive." But Apple did admit that the standards would evolve, citing that when iTunes first launched it didn't sell any music with explicit lyrics. At this point, we are sad to say, the app is dead in the water. Sorry, South Park fans."

Rumors say the app was rejected from the Apps store twice. The content is pretty much what you see on the show.

3D Realm: Prey coming to the iPhone

prey5

3D Realms has announced that their 2006 first-person shooter, Prey, is coming to the iPhone. The preview looks impressive. The texture work is fantastic, the gravity-defying puzzles that helped the original game stand out as an above-average shooter are back as well.

WhatTheFont: recognize the font [AppStore, Free]

wtf

WhatTheFont is a popular Web-based tool to aid in identifying unknown fonts. Users can upload screenshots of text and get the list of possible used fonts.

MyFonts has now released a free iPhone version of WhatTheFont (AppStore link), allowing users to take a photo directly from the app using the iPhone's built-in camera and upload it to the WhatTheFont database for identification. It requires an Internet connection in order to analyze the image and access the font database.
