Official iPhone App for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games





The official Mobile Spectator Guide for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games is now available for iPod Touch and iPhone. It can be downloaded for free from the App Store.

This application is a location-aware schedule that details more than 2,000 sport and cultural events taking place for 17 days between February 12 and 28, 2010.

Dropbox: Store your files online and view them on your iPhone [AppStore, Free]

Dropbox is a service similar to Apple's iDisk. It lets you store your files on a server and immediately share your pictures, documents or programs on different computers. It is quite popular on desktops. Now there is a version for the iPhone. The official free application is already avaliable in App Store.

So with iPhone you can download files, view them immediately, upload your own photos and videos to the Dropbox server, share links and sync it all with your computer.

It is a great service, especially because there is a "Basic" plan completely free of charge. With this plan you get 2GB of web space and it is absolutely free.

Update: DropBox requires firmware 3.1

iTunes 8.1.1

Apple updated iTunes to version 8.1.1. Official changelog is: "iTunes 8.1.1 adds support for renting HD movies and provides a number of bug fixes, including addressing issues with VoiceOver and syncing with iPhone or iPod touch.". Download it here.

Official Sun Microsystems announcement



JavaEric Klein, vice president of Sun Microsystems, Java Marketing anounced that Sun will be developing a Java VM for the Apple's IPhone. This JVM will be based on Java Micro Edition and will allow IPhone to launch thousands of existing and new Java applications. "Once our JVM is on the phone, we anticipate that a large number of Java applications would run on the phone," Klein said. It took 24 hours for Sun to analyze the licence and information Apple had provided with IPhone's SDK. Release date is planned some time after June 2008.
