Duke Nukem 3D for the iPhone has just made its debut in the App Store. This version of the popular first person shooter game first appeared in 1996 for the PC, with subsequent ports to other platforms along with multiple expansion packs and add-ons made available in the years since.

This app appears to be a rather full implementation of the PC original though there are some on-screen analog control issues that hamper gameplay.

Let's watch the video from TouchArcade:

Wiimote and iPhone communication via Bluetooth [Video]

BTStack is the name of a new project that allows the Wii controller to communicate with the iPhone using Bluetooth.

The video it shows the 3D representation (using the Open GL | ES) controller, which manages to take all the positions of true remote control, via Bluetooth. Currently, the агтсешщтфдшен is minimal but future implementations could be very practical, especially with the iPhone 3GS, which thanks to the compass, could be used just like a real Wii remote.

The number of jailbreaked iPhones grows

jailbreak

The latest statistics provided by PinchMedia show that, despite the statements from Apple's official website, the phenomenon of Jailbreak is increasing.

In a single week in fact, it has gone from 8% to 8,43%. This is a small percentage which probably expresses the disappointment of users faced with some decisions of Apple, such as the refusal of the application Google Voice.

Cydia Store - how to purchase apps

The CydiaStore is open for business. Below you can find purchase process so you can see how it works.

Cydia store packages are going to be in blue writing. when you click on one, your install button says “purchase” instead of “install”.

The Cydia store uses two layers of authentication: 1) Authentication 2) Payment. Currently, amazon is used for payments and you can use either facebook or google for authentication. If you have an existing amazon account, facebook account, or google account, this is easy.

You can choose to have this automatically remembered so you don’t have to go through these steps again if you want. Also you now need to link the device you’re using to your account:

After this is done, you now need to setup payment. There are steps to take on teh very first time, but if you allow it to be kept, it will be remembered for the second purchase. Note you can also set pay limit for one-click installs without having to reenter a password in the future:

After, sign in with your Amazon password and finish checkout:

After this, you hit the “close” button and wait. It took about 20 seconds for me. Now the package shows that it’s purchased and ready for download:

After this, updates and such are treated normally. If you selected the correct options, it will be very easy to purchase the next item.

UPDATE: you can use paypal now :)

Mini-humanoid robot with iPhone head [Video]

A robot hobbyist has developed an application that lets the iPhone 3GS function as the brain and face of a miniature humanoid robot.

The body of the robot — named “Robochan” — consists of a Kondo KHR-2HV humanoid. The iPhone head, which attaches to the body via the dock connector, displays various facial expressions while functioning as the controller. Using Robochan’s iPhone interface, the user can program it to function as an alarm clock, dance to music, and perform other moves based on user interaction.
