This video tutorial describes how to jailbreak iPhone 3GS using purplera1n.

Here's a new video from DevTeam. They unlocked iPhone 3GS with 3.0 firmware. Do not update your iPhone with 3.1 firmware, you will loose this ability.

Sakhr is a translation company with big clients like the U.S. Department of Defense and Homeland Security. They specialize in English/Arabic translation, and this demo of their iPhone/Blackberry app (not publicly available) looks like the Holy Grail of translation software.

You hold a button, say a phrase and the software captures the information through speech recognition. The text is then translated into either Arabic or English (in the cloud, we believe) and then read aloud so mispronunciation is not an issue.

Voice recognition is a hard part. But if an app works even with 85% accuracy, that's close enough for most tourists—even if soldiers could find the mistakes a bit more costly.

The 88, an American band, had a single recorded using only their musical instruments and the microphone of an iPhone. In particular they used an application called FourTrack, which allows you to record and combine multiple tracks. The result cn be found on iTunes.

Pocket Gamer released a preview of a very popular game that many people are waiting. These Worms are optimized for iPhone and iPod Touch. Here's the video:

Here are the first TV ads videos for the new iPhone 3GS. They are not available on the Apple site yet. They were recorded directly from TV.

id Software's original iPhone game Doom Resurrection (App Store link) was released into the App Store earlier today. The Doom 3 inspired game offers a first person shooting experience that's been adapted to the iPhone. The player's movements in the game are scripted while the aiming/shooting is controlled by the accelerometer. This video shows the game in action:

Here's another bug in firmware 3.0 which concerns the unusual vibration applications AppStore.

You can see some icons on Springboard vibrate naturally, while others still remain. The only way to solve this problem is to click on an icon to display the (X) to delete, and then click the Home button.
