Here is a demo of new version of app Stack that supports firmware 3.0. You can download it here and install it manually or wait a bit and install via Cydia.

This is the first iPhone application to contain bare boobs. The $1.99 app for iPhone and iPod touch only showed girls in lingerie and bikinis until now.

This is not just an application that downloads softcore content from the Web, bypassing Apple's censorship. There is no censorship here, as this is truly an Apple approved app "rated 17+" for "frequent/intense sexual content or nudity" and "frequent/intense mature/suggestive theme."

According to developers: "We uploaded nude topless pics today. This is the first app to have nudity".

The app is avaliable via AppStore (link) for $1.99.

Here is a video that shows how to get fancy iPhone 3GS battery indicator on any iPhone. Your phone needs to be jailbroken. Why this wasn't already included in all 3.0 firmware for all iPhones is questionable.

We just posted statistics from AdMob about firmwares on iPhones and iPods. Here are the numbers from another company - PinchMedia. This company deals with monitoring the use of applications.

The results below show that:

• most users (66%) use firmware 2.2.1,
• only 1 of 4 users installed the new 3.0 firmware,
• 7.3% of iPhone and iPod Touch owners performed jailbreak.

Admob has released new statistics showing the data about currently installed iPhone and iPod firmwares. Only 1% of the iPod Touch users has updated to firmware version 3.0! Probably the fact that the upgrade costs money discourages some users.

As for the iPhone the upgrade was performed by 44% of users. Of course these statistics may not be accurate as they are based on scripts present only in some AppStore applications.

Research firm iSuppli today announced the results of its teardown of the new 16 GB iPhone 3GS, estimating the device's parts cost at $172.46, with an additional $6.50 in manufacturing costs bringing the total cost to $178.96. The data compares to a total cost of $174.33 for the 8 GB iPhone 3G at its launch in July 2008. iPhone 2G was about $226, Palm Pre costs $170.

One more iPhone killer?

ZodTTD created a new beta version of psx4iphone, the emulator for iPhone 3GS that will run Play Station games.

AdSense for Mobile Applications (link) allows developers to earn revenue by displaying text and image ads in their iPhone and Android applications.

Medialets today released the results of JavaScript benchmark tests performed using the SunSpider test suite on the iPhone 3G and 3GS, the T-Mobile G1 running Android, and the Palm Pre running webOS. The use of the SunSpider suite for benchmarking studies enables cross-platform comparisons among the devices, as they all utilize WebKit-based Web browsers. In the Medialets study, the iPhone 3GS outperformed the Palm Pre by a factor of three and the T-Mobile G1 by over a factor of five.

Notably, Medialets also tested the iPhone 3G running both iPhone OS 2.2.1 and OS 3.0, revealing that iPhone OS 3.0 provides a nearly three-fold improvement in performance over OS 2.2.1 running on the same hardware. The shift to the iPhone 3GS increases performance a further three-fold.
