iPhone 4S: “Raise to Speak” Feature In Siri, It Actually Is Twice As Fast

While some customers have only begun receiving shipping notices, someone has already got the device and provided video about it.

It is interesting that Siri section in Settings allows choosing between activating voice-based function by pressing the home button or simply by moving your device to your ear.

Siri is activated not only via the device’s proximity sensor detecting your ear, but also relies on motion sensors for more accurate detection. Also Siri settings allows user to choose languages (initially English, German and French, but Apple promised to include others in later versions) and to enable or disable Siri system-wide. According to Apple, assistant feature Siri is exclusive for iPhone 4S and cannot be implemented on other iPhone models due to considerable computational requirements, thouh some hackers has already tried to make it.

First tests of the device confirmed Apple’s words that iPhone 4S is “twice as fast”. The device scores 2222.1 ms in the SunSpider test and 89567 ms in the BrowserMark test, compared to 44856 ms of iPhone 4.
