How And Why Steve Jobs Bought Lala
A former Color employee Aubrey Johnson about Apple's acquisitions of Lala and Color, which both were founded by Bill Nguyen.
Lala's music was streamed over the Internet instead of stored locally. The service allowed users to listen to a collection of more than 7 million titles as a stream over the Internet – much like Spotify and Pandora today. Users could also buy and download songs usually for a lower price than Apple’s iTunes was offering.
Spotify iPad App Lands In The App Store
Last month there were showing how might look the Spotify app for iPad, and today the company launched its long awaited app with the video above and a blog post. The app in the App Store as a free universal download (an update for iPhone users). The service offers a free trial period of 48 hours for non-Premium users that can be increased to 30 days.

iTunes Match Creates Money ‘Out Of Thin Air’ For Copyright Owners
The president of TuneCore Jeff Price a blog post praising iTunes Match service for generating money "out of thin air" for owners of copyrights. Apple’s iTunes Match launched in partnership with all major recording studios, but some small studios refused to cooperate over concerns that the iTunes Match was legitimizing music piracy. He says:
