The 88, an American band, had a single recorded using only their musical instruments and the microphone of an iPhone. In particular they used an application called FourTrack, which allows you to record and combine multiple tracks. The result cn be found on iTunes.

Apple has just removed another application from AppStore called BeautyMeter. The aim was to collect the images taken directly from iPhone on some sort of virtual dashboard allowing other users to rate the faces and bodies that were displayed.

The application itself complied with all rules of Apple SDK so at that time was regularly approved for the Store. But following the growth of communities there were some who abused the service, uploading pornographic photos. That was the reason why the app was removed.

Pocket Gamer released a preview of a very popular game that many people are waiting. These Worms are optimized for iPhone and iPod Touch. Here's the video:

Here are the first TV ads videos for the new iPhone 3GS. They are not available on the Apple site yet. They were recorded directly from TV.

id Software's John Carmack today confirmed to Shacknews that the company plans to bring three of its Quake titles to the iPhone platform, though Carmack himself may not be heavily involved in the projects.  "We will be trying to put some other developers on the future classic titles," said Carmack. "I don't think I'm going to be doing all of the work on Quake, Quake 2 and Quake Arena on there."

The id Software provides an intense activity for the next year, with new projects every 2-3 months. Staremo a vedere. We shall see.

id Software's original iPhone game Doom Resurrection (App Store link) was released into the App Store earlier today. The Doom 3 inspired game offers a first person shooting experience that's been adapted to the iPhone. The player's movements in the game are scripted while the aiming/shooting is controlled by the accelerometer. This video shows the game in action:

Skype, the application for iPhone and iPod Touch through which you can call and chat for free with your Skype contacts, has been updated to version 1.1. This is an update adds some small improvements and bug fixes.

What's new in version 1.1

• Support for the following languages: English, German, Dutch, Brazilian Portuguese, Portuguese, Spanish, Norwegian, Russian, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Italian, French, Polish and Japanese.
• Send text (SMS) messages using Skype credit.
• Voicemail support.
• Improved dialing help when calling phones.

Skype is avaliable in AppStore for free (link).

Action Babes is a new app, that should be approved by Apple soon. Two girls will be ready to execute your commands.

There are 42 "commedy scenes" hidden inside the application. The developers have created two versions: one very soft and another slightly hot.

Here's another bug in firmware 3.0 which concerns the unusual vibration applications AppStore.

You can see some icons on Springboard vibrate naturally, while others still remain. The only way to solve this problem is to click on an icon to display the (X) to delete, and then click the Home button.

A few days ago we reported that the statistics showed an increase in speed of firmware 3.0 compared to 2.2.1. This factor, however, does not find confirmation in other applications, because, as you can see from the following table that 3.0 is slower than 2.2.1.

For example is takes 34 seconds to start for firmware 2.2.1 against 47 seconds for 3.0 firmware. The launch time of some applications on the old firmware also sees an advantage of 2-9 seconds compared to 3.0. This is just further evidence showing that the 3.0 firmware has problems and should be optimized. We hope that the update arrives soon!

These are the first images of a Jailbroken iPhone 3GS. GeoHotz published them in his blog. DevTeam will publish an updated release of the tool only after the release of firmware 3.0.1. The reason is simple: Given that the Firmware 3.0 is full of bugs, it is clear that Apple will release an update soon. If the DevTeam release new tool, Apple will probably be able to block them with the next update. Tomorrow afternoon we will find more details on the official DevTeam blog. By the way firmware 3.0.1 is scheduled to be released in July.

We don't know how many people have hit this problem (the Apple support forums talk about only overheating here and here, as a sample), but at least one user claims that his white iPhone 3GS has become PINK with heat.
