'Rights to Light' Laws Threaten Potential Apple Store In London
While Apple has already opened Regent Streets and London Covent Garden stores in the center of the city, a proposed development that could house Apple’s store at 100 Cheapside in rich financial district may be disallowed due to violation of neighbors’ rights to sunlight.

the Financial Times, five Chinese environmental groups accused Apple’s local suppliers of systematic pollution and taking "advantage of the loopholes in developing countries' environmental management systems".
Unlike previous times, Apple apparently has soften towards Mia Jun, the director of Institute of Public and Environmental Affairs (a co-author of the report) just hours before the report was published and invited her to a dialogue on the problem.

For 3Q Foxconn Is Expected To Manufacture 20 Million iPad 2s
According to , Foxconn, a manufacturer of Apple gadgets, is expected to produce 20 million iPad 2s in the third quarter. This order more than doubles the 9.25 million iPads that Apple sold during the second quarter. DigiTimes reports:
Apple Still Considering USB 3.0 in Addition to Thunderbolt
Apple is reportedly still exploring idea of integration of USB 3.0 into its future computers. The USB 3.0 is up to 10 times faster than USB 2.
A lot of people have been disappointed over Apple's lack of interest in the USB 3.0 standard, but thanks to a little bird, VR-Zone has heard that the company is still looking at USB 3.0 as a potential feature to add on future products. As to when and how this might happen is not something we know, but from our understanding it'll happen before Intel integrates USB 3.0 support into its chipsets.
USB 3.0 was not built in the current line of Apple’s computers, due to lack of Intel support in their motherboards. Though, Intel will be provide support for both USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt in its 2012 platform known as 'Ivy Bridge', Apple may implement USB 3.0 before Intel’s adoption. But Apple is unlikely to update its iMac, Mac mini and MacBook Pro until the first half of 2012.
Openwave sues Apple, RIM for allegedly infringed patents
Openware Systems has a lawsuit against Apple and RIM, accusing them in infringing of five of its patents. Three of them are related with mobile computing, while other two apply to cloud computing and fast page navigation.

Apple Promotes Eddy Cue To Senior Vice President Of Internet Software And Services
Yesterday, Tim Cook started redirecting customers’ e-mails to Eddy Cue, Apple's vice president for Internet services. Cook confirmed 9to5Mac that Cue was officially promoted to a senior vise president position.
From an internal Apple email sent by Tim Cook:
It is my pleasure to announce the promotion of Eddy Cue to Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services. Eddy will report to me and will serve on Apple’s executive management team.
Eddy oversees Apple’s industry-leading content stores including the iTunes Store, the revolutionary App Store and the iBookstore, as well as iAd and Apple’s innovative iCloud services. He is a 22-year Apple veteran and leads a large organization of amazing people. He played a major role in creating the Apple online store in 1998, the iTunes Music Store in 2003 and the App Store in 2008.
Cue's promotion may be the first move in a reshuffling of Apple's leadership. The position of Chief Operating Officer is now vacant. Apple’s COO was Tim Cook until his ascension to the CEO position. And soon a position of a senior vice president for retail will be vacant as he takes the CEO position at J.C. Penney.

Google and Apple Will Compete For “Undecideds”
Google and Apple, two main parties on the smartphone market, are continuously fighting for consumers especially those who have not yet decided which OS they want to have in their next smartphone. According to survey in July 2011, these ‘undecideds’ will be the customers which manufacturers will be hoping to win over. It is interesting that late adopters are least sure among likely smartphone upgraders about their next phone platform.

The iPhone Dev-Team recently released RedSn0w 0.9.8b7 which brings explicit support for a tethered 4.3.5 jailbreak as well as new iOS 5.0b6 iPad 1 jailbreak:
Apple updated the iPad1 iOS5b6 IPSW without changing its version number or filename, so we're releasing redsn0w 0.9.8b7 to handle both the original and changed IPSW. We've also added explicit support for a tethered 4.3.5/4.2.10 jailbreak (instead of pointing at the 4.3.4/4.2.9 IPSWs) and fixed a 4.2.10 problem.
