Facebook Launches New iPhone App For Uploading And Sharing Photos

Just after Facebook acquired photo sharing service Instagram for 1$ billion, the company announced Facebook Camera app for iPhone in a blog post today. The app allows uploading a batch of photos at a time and features filters and other photo editing tools. The standard Facebook app allows you to upload only one picture at a time. When first opening Camera app, it detects all Facebook accounts associated with the iPhone, so that you can upload pictures immediately.

The app has also ability to view photos of your friends in a single timeline. Like the Facebook Messenger app released last year, Camera app is designed to streamline a certain Facebook feature that users are often interacting with. Camera app for iOS is currently available on the iTunes App Store.

Facebook explained why users need to turn on location:

“Your iPhone’s built-in camera automatically stores some information when a photo is taken. This includes the location your photo was taken. Facebook Camera can’t access the photos on your iPhone’s camera roll until you turn on location for the app”.
