Wistron to Help Foxconn Produce iPhone 5SE, Pegatron To Assist As iPhone 7 Supplier
As it was already reported, Foxconn is currently responsible for assembling the 4-inch iPhone 5SE units. According to the latest report from people familiar with the matter, Apple has recently made another firm, Wistron, an additional supplier of the widely-rumored smaller handset to avoid supply shortages and other risks.
Aside from other things, the company is planning to use the two-supplier strategy with the manufacture of the iPhone 7. Such firms as Pegatron and Foxconn will reportedly produce the larger iPhone.
Foxconn is leading production of the phone, as it does with most iPhone units. Digitimes is reporting that Apple is adding a new supplier to the mix to aid supply: Wistron.
Naturally, Wistron declined comment as 4-inch iPhone production is still a supposed secret.
Apple is expected to unveil the smaller iPhone 5SE on March 15th. The device will reportedly hit the store shelves on March 18th.
As to the iPhone 7, it will be released this fall and feature a wide number of improvements including new processor, more RAM and possibly new design.
