Official Twitter App for iPhone Released
Twitter, a wildly popular social networking service, now has its own official iPhone app that was released in AppStore.
The release of the Twitter app falls in line with the company’s announcement last month about its acquisition of Atebits’ Tweetie. Twitter had then stated that Tweetie would be re-branded to be the official Twitter app and would be offered for free.
Tweetie is now Twitter! We didn’t just do a name change, we’ve added a bunch of new stuff
- Search has been reorganized, now you can search all tweets and find users in the same spot, view
- Top Tweets and Browse Suggested users.
- Search results now include Top Tweets, try it with Trends…winner combo!
- You can now use Twitter without an account! Search, Browse uses, view trends and top tweets.
- Sign-up is now availabile within the application as well, complete with Suggested user list.
- More tab has been re-organized to accomplish all this. Users with one account can add a second account under the Accounts and Settings button here.
- Actions we’ve found people use most, like Retweet have been moved to the main actions bar.
- Minor tweaks were made to tweet rendering so they match Twitter.com tweets
Here are several screenshots of this app:
Want To Play Golf? There's An App For That
This app would not be mentioned on iPhoneroot if not a video found recently. Gigaputt for iPhone ($1.99) is created by Gigantic Mechanic and allows playing golf just anywhere. At first sight Gigaputt users look pretty foolish, though the app seems to be pretty interesting and fascinating. It supports Openfeint and Twitter/Facebook integration.

Jobs recommends to buy Android-based phones
And we're back now with a new e-mail reply by Steve Jobs, received from a TechCrunch reader. He was interested why Apple doesn't apply parental control to apps released in AppStore but simply denies accepting it. Jobs' answer was suddenly long, and he recommended to buy an Android-based phone.
Multi-tasking Can Be Enabled in iPhone 3G
Twitter-user named @cdevwill claims multi-tasking can be enabled on the iPhone 3G (and that means it can be used for every device with iPhone OS 3) just by setting a TRUE-flag in the capabilities list.
Some people are not surprised of this, because obviously Apple turned this function off to increase the battery line. But the way of turning multi-tasking on looks way too simple, don't you think?
iPad App Store Video
Macstories was able to create a small video with iPad App Store. It features different applications we’ve seen so far on screenshots: the Yahoo Entertainment app, Twitterrific, OmniGraffle and OmniGraph Sketcher, Real Racing. Take a look:
Tweet on iPad with Twitepad
InfoXenter released the first Twitter app for iPad that have been already approved by Apple and it is called Twitepad. It will be available on the device since its release on April 3rd.
Because of a larger screen size InfoXenter developed a built-in web-browser, multiple tweet-columns and provided an unlimited number of Twitter accounts support. Other features look good too. For more information check the video above.
Digg's iPhone App Is Released
This morning Digg released their official iPhone app. It allows you to browse and interact with the popular news aggregator. You can view the top, recent and upcoming stories in any category; clicking a headline will lead to a built-in browser that will display a requested page. At the bottom of the screen you'll find a buttons to Digg or Bury (like or dislike) the story, Save The Story button (for this you need to be logged in with your Digg account), and an option of sharing the link. The latter is pretty convenient, as you can send the story to the Email, Twitter, Facebook or to the iPhone's clipboard.

Speaking About Reasons of Apple's Actions
After the news about Apple's lawsuit many of us have been wondering why Apple did this. Obviously, the thing is not about money as the company already has $40 billion of cash and investments. Digital Daily's editor John Paczkowski thinks the reason is a desire to extend iPhone's growing lead on the market.
"Apple is suing to make an example out of HTC and lengthen the engineering time-to-market for Android handset builders."
While other Android smartphone manufacturers will spend their time solving a problem with developing of noninfringing technologies to avoid lawsuits, Apple will continue to iterate the iPhone.
Ok, this is clear, but why Apple accused HTC now?
Attention: fake jailbreak utilities might have viruses
The number of jailbreak utilities for iPhones and iPod Touches with the latest iBoot is dramatically increasing. All of them are FAKE. Some of them will fill your computer with viruses, which is not good.
gull1hack, spartanbr3ak, br0k3n_appl3 are just some of these new programs that in one way or another deceive the user and then run malicious code. We therefore ask you to stay away from ANY such software. Some time in the future GeoHot or DevTeam will release new jailbreak and unlock software. Other than that is fake and dangerous. Install only programs you trust or the ones recommended by iPhoneRoot.
Here is a twitter comment from DevTeam:
According to MuscleNerd the Gull1hack utility is fake
Gull1hack, the tool that promises to jailbreak all iPhones and iPod Touches with the latest iBoot, is a fake. Here is a twitter comment from MuscleNerd, hacker from DevTeam:
It looks like the guys who created Gull1hack used two different iPhone 3GS's (or perhaps 3GS and 3G) - one with the old iBoot and one with the new one. Here is a quick conversation between MuscleNerd and Gull1hack:
Steve Jobs’ Photo Was Put At Pop Art Exhibition
"Icons" Pop Art exhibition was opened on the day when most New Yorkers were preoccupied with St. Valentines’s Day bustle. The 15 000 square feet installation room houses the photos not only of Steve Jobs but other renowned persons as well. His photo is placed beside that of Jack Dorsey (Twitter founder), Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook creator) and Bill Gates (Microsoft CEO). Although Jobs doesn't seemed to be very enthusiastic of his second row placement.
Last year’s installation was called "The Holy Trinity” and immortalized such personalities as El Jobso hung between Linus Torvalds (Linux creator) and Bill Gates.
This exhibition features the four luminaries who resemble more the wanted posters rather than pop art celebrities.
It will run till late March.
