MacStories’s source close with AT&T claims that new iOS 4.2 will be released on Friday at 10 a.m. Mac OS X 10.6.5 completed and waiting for launch.  iTunes 10.1 was ready 3 weeks ago - likely after the release of beta 2 to developers. Both updates should be released on Wednesday. iOS 4.2 will require iTunes 10.1 to be installed and  will bring AirPrint and AirPlay to the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. But Mac users need Mac OS X 10.6.5 to share a printer with an iOS device, while Windows users will access a printer through iTunes 10.1.

Some new rumors about a possible release of final version of iOS 4.2 have appeared today. Apple recently provided developers with the golden master seed of iOS 4.2 and this means that the public release is imminent. According to Inside-Handy.de the launch may be this Tuesday, November 9. Apparently the German website made contact with some Deutsche Telekom representatives who informed them of the November 9th release date.

Apple seeds Mac OS X 10.6.6 build 10J521 to developers on Thursday ahead of the public release of Mac OS X 10.6.5. The changelog for Mac OS X 10.6.6 notes that the beta "contains developer support for fetching and renewing App Store receipts." App Store receipts could be a reference to the recently announced Mac App Store that is coming to Snow Leopard in the next three months. Strangely, the download is only 3.7MB. The last update to Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard came in the form of 10.6.4 in June. Mac OS X 10.6.4 resolved issues with the trackpad and Adobe's Creative Suite 3.

Yesterday Apple released an update 9.1 to the iPhoto'11 application to solve a problem causing data loss for some users upgrading from iPhoto '09. The update also restores support for the photo calendars that had gone missing in the initial iPhoto '11 release on October 20. It adds several new print product options to iPhoto '11 and also improves overall stability and addresses a number of other minor issues:

• Provides the ability to create and order calendars in iPhoto.
• Additional letterpress holiday greeting card themes are now available.
• Fixes an issue that prevented videos downloaded from MobileMe or Flickr from importing correctly into iPhoto events.
• The update is recommended for all users of iPhoto '11.

As we reported earlier today, yesterday Apple released the Golden Master version of iOS 4.2 to developers, thus making the official update closer to the public release, which will happen in November, according to Steve Jobs.

Yesterday Apple released the Golden Master version of iOS 4.2 to developers for both iPad and iPhone and iPod touch devices. The GM build is typically the final shipping build that will eventually reach customers. That means that the company is really close to public release of the new operating system.

The iPhone Dev-Team recently has released a new version of RedSn0w for Mac and Windows.  RedSn0w uses the Limera1n exploit to support more devices and adds the ability to restore custom firmware ipsws. The crew promises that now RedSn0w will work with the iPhone 3G, 3GS, 4, iPad, iPod 2G, 3G, and 4G (Not iPod 2G-MC yet).

The Web is full of reports that the iPhone alarms (for all models of device) going off an hour later than usual when switched between Daylight Savings Time and Standard Time. Later, we reported that firstly this problem was found out in Australia, now Europe faces with the same. So even though the iOS clock changed correctly over the weekend, the alarm is still locked to Daylight Savings Time. Apple acknowledged the bug with a promise to fix it with a software update.

Cult Of Mac yesterday revealed that some early MacBook Air adopters have faced with kernel panics and video anomalies on their new laptops. It is assumed that they can be related to sleep/wake issues.

Recently "Jobs at Apple" section on the Apple's site has been updated and now includes new jobs position, more information on the carrier possibilities at Apple retail and even a video that introduces the company's retail philosophy.

In general the section now focuses on how it is incredible to work at Apple and to be part of a company that "actually change people's lives" and "connect customers with Apple products".

On Friday Apple released an update to iPhoto 9 (part of iLife’11). This update iPhoto 9.0.1 should resolve a data loss problem when upgrading from iPhoto 8 to iPhoto 9.

Shortly after the release of iPhoto '11, lots of users reported that they have problems. After upgrading users found some or all their photos disappearing. Somebody lost all or some photo libraries, data while upgrade process.  iPhoto '11 also drops support for older AppleTVs and photo calendars. But Apple claims that the upgrade process is “generally safe and reliable” and recommends all download and install iPhoto software update iPhoto 9.0.1 before updating to iPhoto '11.

On Thursday Apple released an update for the most recent version of its Mac Pro desktop machine. The Mac Pro EFI Firmware Update 1.5 includes fixes for a few bugs: one that resolves an issue preventing the firmware password prompt from being displayed, and the other that smoothes out incidents where the Boot Picker doesn’t show up if the machine is on an Ethernet network without DHCP. The update is recommended for all users of the 12 cores Mac Pro models. It requires Mac OS X 10.6.4.

Recently Apple updated its own Apple Store application for the very first time. And you may find a little surprise in version 1.1. If you look at the “Reserve Products” screen, you may notice that the much delayed white iPhone 4 is now available for reserving. Only for reserving! So, who knows, may be it is just some sort of glitch in the system, or evidence that sooner or later the white iPhone will be available for purchase.

Before iPad was released, Apple had announced that the hardware switch on the side of the iPad would be a mute switch, just like on the iPhone. But in March the company changed its plans. The mute-switched button was transformed into an orientation-lock. And now, it seems that Apple decided again to change the switch’s purpose via a software update. In new iOS 4.2, expected to be released in November, the orientation-lock button will be transformed again into a mute-switch. You’ll be able to lock screen orientation via a menu to the left of the multitasking dock.
