The iPhone Dev-Team has announced via Twitter that they will release new unlock only after release of iOS 4.2.5 or 4.3. It is a little bit surprising and of course disappointing for many but overall in the best interests of the community.
The statement claims: “Official iPhone unlock statement: no unlock will be released until after 4.2.5 or official 4.3 (whichever is last) is out.”
Many users of the popular and visited photo sharing/hosting and social network concept based Web resource – Flickr – have already enjoyed the special iPhone application which was released earlier and that is why will definitely estimate its latest version 1.3 which was launched few days ago.
People are beginning to dig into the newly released iOS 4.3 developer build and has revealed settings for a new feature called "Find My Friends, " which is tied to Apple’s MobileMe service. Apple may be looking to offer a location-based friend-finding service like Loopt and Google Latitude. Moreover, such services have seen incredible growth and interest in the recent years, with several companies like Twitter and Facebook offering location-based features. Location-based services allow you to find your friends by leveraging your mobile phone’s GPS signal. The constant updates can broadcast your location to your friends to know who is nearby.
Last week we reported that the well-known hacker Geohot might call his next jailbreak tool rubyra1n. Now guts from Dev Team hit that they know something about Geohot’s effort to bring a proper untethered jailbreak to iOS 4.2.1.
A recent tweet from MuscleNerd confirms the rumors: "I hear geohot does have an untether actually! Though not for all devices".
After being pulled from AppStore application Camera+ is back with version 2.0. It has new filters and enhancments in addition to the usual bug fixes.
Camera+ is on sale right now and is available for $0.99 (
What's New in Version 2.0:

Apple finally deployed a new short URL for Ping tweets, itun.es. The itun.es domain was purchased by Apple years ago. Since Apple announced Twitter integration for Ping many thought itun.es would be a great option for tweeted items. The itun.es links are now ready to go. Links are show up in the iTunes Store when sharing a song / album on Twitter. Third party clients like Tweetie for Mac and Weet for iPhone don’t use itun.es. The itun.es links are visible to everyone in iTunes and Twitter.com.

Here's the Apple CEO in his own words talking during Apple Q4 Earnings Call:
Hi, everybody. As most of you know, I don’t usually participate in Apple earnings calls, since you’re all in such capable hands with Peter and Tim. But I just couldn’t help dropping by for our first 20-billion-dollar quarter. I’d like to chat about a few things, and then stay for the rest of the Q&A, if that’s all right.
First, let me discuss iPhone. We sold 14.1 million iPhones in the quarter, which represents a 91 percent unit growth over the year-ago quarter, and was well ahead of IDC’s latest published estimate of 64 percent growth for the global smartphone market in the September quarter. And it handily beats RIM’s 12.1 million BlackBerrys sold, in their most recent quarter ending in August.
MuscleNerd, a hacker from DevTeam, recently published a screenshot of anticipated jailbreak utility PwnageTool 4.1. It will support iOS 4.1 and will be able to preserve old baseband for unlockers, who have not updated to iOS 4.1.
From the screenshot we can tell that PwnageTool 4.1 will support:
MuscleNerd from DevTeam has posted a video preview of the new PwnageTool upcoming release. The new PwnageTool will use Geohot's Limera1n exploit and will let users who need unlock to obtain it. Here's MuscleNerd message from twitter:
Nerd alert: geohot's limera1n in PwnageTool... iTunes restoring iPad to pre-JB 3.2.2 (AppleTV next!) http://is.gd/g37Lm
Let's watch the video:
iTunes continues to serve iOS updates even if your Apple’s device was jailbroken. And if these updates are downloaded and installed occasionally, your device may be returned to a non-jailbroken state. Here the script, which prevents iTunes from automatically downloading updates:
Today the new Apple TV has been jailbroken by hacker MuscleNerd from DevTeam. He used the SHAtter exploit. This means that hackers were able to gain full access to the device. Here is MuscleNerd's comment on twitter:
AppleTV 2G SHAttered and jailbroken (not quite sure how to run apps yet!)
MuscleNerd and the rest of the Dev-Team will probably create a public release of some utility soon. Here is a youtube video showing off the jailbroken device:
Twitter user with nickname StealthBravo recently confirmed that the new Apple TV can be restored in iTunes as well as any iOS device, easing the way for jailbreakers to bring new functionality to the set-top box. This means that the hackers soon be able to offer us tools, as they currently do for other iOS devices, to save SHSH blobs, jailbreak the Apple TV, and install 3rd party software.
Moreover, Apple TV offers a Micro-USB port for connectivity, but the port also offers a means for users to physically connect the device to computers to employ the techniques required for jailbreak of operating system.
