In-Store Pickup Of Online Orders Will Be Available In Apple Retail Stores
Sherwood offering in EasyPay system of Apple's retail store
Apple is planning to launch a new program allowing customers to pickup items ordered through the online store at their local Apple Stores. The program known as Sherwood will allow to order any product available at the online store, including gift-wrapped and engraved products, custom-configured Macs, and a full range of third-party accessories.
Customers placing orders through an online store can select a retail store for taking the product, with the accessories and standard configurations being available on the same day. Other products may take several days to be delivered to the Apple retail store.
Reportedly in-store pickup of products will require an ID and proof of purchase. Also the program will allow designating one additional person to pick up the item. Using this program, customers may avoid home delivery of gifts which might reveal its nature during the holiday period.
Besides, customers will avoid dealing with return shipping as Apple retail stores will accept returns of elegible products ordered through online stores.
Reportedly the Sherwood program will be originally available only in select retail stores and in time the company will expand it across all its retail stores.
