Apple Began Countdown To Fifty Billion App Downloads

Apple has began a new iTunes countdown, offering a gift card for $10,000 to a customer who downloads the fifty billionth app, similar to earlier promotions on the App Store. During its most recent earnings call Apple said that it has surpassed 45 billion total app downloads.

The most recent contest was posted for 25 billion app downloads in February 2012. This time Apple is also awarding $500 gift cards to each of the next fifty customers who download an app after the fifty billionth.
