Apple to Announce the iPad 2 on February 9th

ipad 2 release

An image found in the iOS 4.3 beta 2 reveals not only icons of FaceTime, Photo Booth and Camera applications but also indicates a day when the rumored iPad 2 may be announced. If you take a look at the image above, you may notice that the left iPad wallpaper has a 27 on the Calendar app icon. That’s because the first-generation iPad was released on January 27, 2010. When looking at the preview for a chosen background in iOS 4.3 beta 2 you can see that the calendar-icon shows a 9. Someone believes that this is clear evidence confirming that the iPad 2 will be unveiled on February 9, 2011. It is possible that this could be the 9th of a more distant month.

Steve Jobs Reassured Customer Concerned for Mac OS X Server's Future

snow_leopard_server_box

Yesterday we reported that Apple might discontinue some of its server-relating products at the end of this month and cut Mac OS X Server from Apple’s lineup. One of MacRumors readers emailed Steve Lobs to let know if the serve might be discontinued.

MacRumors’ reader: “If you are abandoning enterprise solutions by eliminating the Xserve, does that mean OS X Server is not far behind? It seems that way. I would hate to see that because I like the product.”

Steve Job’s answer: “No”

His response might mean that Mac OS X Server is not under the danger. Though, Jobs always addresses questions selectively and in rather clever way.

Playboy Magazine coming to iPad uncensored

playboyiPadApp

Hugh Hefner, Playboy founder, announced on Twitter today that the full catalog of Playboy Magazine, from its very first issue in 1953 to its latest one, is coming to the iPad this March. Moreover it will be uncensored. The magazine delivery may be related to Apple's recent plans to open up subscription billing for magazine and newspaper content. Such debut also may mean that Apple has relaxed or removed their current restriction against nudity. Though, it’s doubtful that Apple allows mature content to overflow App Store. The company is likely to be testing a new section. There are no further details on the iPad version of the magazine.

Apple could beat revenue estimates by $2 billion

apple revenue

Wall Street Analysts expect Apple to post $5.38 in earnings per share (EPS) on approximately $24.38 billion in revenue. Yet, bloggers and unaffiliated analysts who tend to almost always outperform Wall Street analysts are looking for significantly stronger numbers out of the company. Bloggers are looking for Apple to post $6.32 in earnings per share (EPS) on approximately $26.4 billion in revenue. Bloggers are looking for Apple to beat on the top-line by over $2 billion. Apple could be immediately sold-off on great earnings given the humongous run it has had since August. The stock is up over 50% in just 6 months time.
