Apple Plans To Invest $1 Billion In Sharp Plant

As Reuters reports, Apple may invest $1 billion in Sharp’s Kameyama plant to secure shipment of sufficient amount of iPhone and iPad's displays. David Rubenstein, analyst from MF Global FXA Securities said:

“We think it is highly possible that Apple will make an investment in Sharp’s Kameyama plant to the tune of around $1 billion in order to secure stable supply of screens for iPhones and iPads”.

As you remember, Apple had to shift part of the orders for iPad displays to its “patent enemy” Samsung, due to manufacturing problems in LG. As for 2048 х 1536  dispalys for iPad 3, LG and Samsung are not capable to ship them in required amount for the moment. And this is the main reason for Apple to involve third display manufacturers in Sharp, which is capable to manufacture required quantity of displays.
