Apple Remains World's Top Tablet Vendor - IDC
According to the latest reports from J.D Power and IDC, Apple currently remains world's top tablet manufacturer with 22.8% market share and 12.3 million iPad units shipped in the third quarter of this year. Still, the researchers claim that Apple's tablet sales are weaker than in the year-ago quarter. The manufacturers of the lower-cost tablets, for example, Lenovo or RCA, saw a noticeable increase in sales in 2014 and that means that more and more people prefer cheaper, but pretty efficient and reliable Android devices to hi-end and expensive iOS products.
Apple shipped 12.3 million units in Q3 2014, edging out both Samsung, which shipped 9.9 million units, and coming in well ahead of Asus, which climbed to the number three spot with 3.5 million units shipped.
Apple's market share in the fourth quarter of 2014 is expected to rise as the guys from Cupertino in October launched the updated iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3. Moreover, there's another thing that can possibly boost sales in 2015 and this thing is the long-anticipated 12.9-inch iPad. Anyway, nobody knows for sure what will happen in future. We'll see.
