Apple Sells 1.6 Million iPhones in Russia during 2013 - Estimates

The company from Cupertino reportedly sold nearly 1.6 million iPhones in Russia during 2013, even though in the first half of the year Apple’s handsets were not available on Russia’s largest carriers - MegaFon, Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) and VimpelCom.

It should be noted, however, that MTS purchases iPhones not directly from Apple, but from a third-party distributor, so the company hasn’t got an official deal with Apple. As to the other carriers, they signed a deal with the tech giant at the end of the year.

According to AppleInsider,

Despite not being available on three of Russia's largest carriers for the first half of 2013, market research firm IDC said Apple's iPhone sales in the region doubled to 1.57 million units last year, reports Bloomberg. Now the telcos are jumping on the iPhone bandwagon, adding to Apple's presence in the country.

Russia is one of the most perspective markets for Apple, that is why I believe the guys from Cupertino will do their best to improve local sales results in near future.
