Apple to Start Production of Faster Next-Gen Apple TV in January - Rumor
According to the latest report from DigiTimes reporters, Apple is currently working on the next-generation Apple TV, which is expected to become much faster than its predecessor released in November. The trial production of the device will start later this month and the mass production may begin in January, reporters claim.
The new device will feature a new processor and other updated hardware components to make the performance of the device much higher. Apple is reportedly planning to sell 20 million Apple TV 5 units in 2016, however, this rumor is yet to be confirmed officially.
Apple is planning to adopt a new CPU for the fifth-generation Apple TV to dramatically improve the device's hardware performance and will add new functions to help it no longer serve only as a set-top box (STB).
Currently, the set-top box is assembled by Foxconn, however, the new device may be manufactured by Quanta Computer. More and more sources begin to talk about Apple’s plans to change usual product update cycles, and looks like the Cupertino-based tech giant indeed wants to do this. Stay tuned for more rumors about the next-gen Apple TV.
