G-Map will be back soon?

In reality G-Map was a true offline browser, and the last update had also added the voice features combined with turn-by-turn directions. All these additions surprised us, because they violated the contract terms of SDK. About 10 days ago, we wrote that G-Map app had suddenly been removed from App Store.
The developers, on the official site, continue to exhibit the same banner which claim G-Map will be back in AppStore, and that the application was removed only because of a major upgrade. This is a very strange this thing, because usually you update applications directly, without any need to first be removed.
New rumors about future iPhone

Here are some new rumors about future iPhone from AT&T staff:
- New iPhone announcement around mid-June
- New iPhone will be faster and have a more seamless experience unmatched by any device (could be just talking about 3.0, but we think it’s also a new iPhone)
- U-Verse iPhone application; will allow control of your home DVR (play, pause, rewind, etc.)
- AT&T is said to be working with Apple to create a unified product with an unparalleled experience across all their products and services.
- Apple’s 3.0 software should tell us where the iPhone platform is going… uh, k?
- They said customers shouldn’t need to choose from AT&T’s high-end devices because of features, they should choose based on preferences. The gap in capability should be filled with the new iPhone. Ok, bets on slide out QWERTY, autofocus camera, video sharing, blah blah?
- Seems like the higher speed HSDPA (7.2Mbps) is being hinted at too which should confirm the earlier rumors of the new Infineon chipset.
- The $99 3G netbook will start selling this summer, and the first one won’t be a Windows OS.

Firmware 2.2 - new Safari interface
Apple just published firmware 2.2 beta 1 for developers. It is accompanied by a new beta of the iPhone SDK (build 9M2611). There are not much news about new features and improvements... but iphoneatlas already published a screenshot of new Safari interface, that is in firmware 2.2:

The new MobileSafari doesn't have the magnifying glass and refresh buttons at the top of the screen. There are the URL bar and search fields side-by-side instead. It looks much like the desktop version. Page refreshes are now accomplished via a tiny icon located inside the URL bar.

New iPod touch internals
The folks at iFixIt received a brand new iPod Touch, which they disassembled right away.
Both the touch's 3.5-inch LCD display as well as its Lithium-ion polymer battery are held in place with strips of double-sided tape. The WiFi antenna and circuitry, which are located at the top of the unit, are connected to the main logic board by wide orange cable that were designed to prevent external noise from interfering with the digital signals as they travel along the device, iFixIt says.
The specialty online reseller, which offers replacement parts for Macs and iPods, was particularly excited by its discovery of an unpublicized Broadcom BCM4325 Bluetooth chip within the device. The particular chipset supports BT2.1+EDR, and is necessary for the touch's built-in support of Nike+ iPod technology. It's unclear, however, whether the chip supports A2DP, which would pave the way for Apple and third-party developers to introduce stereo headphones for the player.
iFixIt also discovered brown rectangular component centered about three quarters of the way down the touch's logic board, which is suspected to be the device's speaker. Other discoveries include a 3.7 V Lithium-ion polymer battery with part number 616-0404, NAND flash memory from Micron with part number 29F64G08TAA, and an Apple-branded Samsung-manufactured ARM processor with SDRAM that's similar to the one employed by the iPhone.

OpenClip - Copy/Paste for iPhone

One of the common complaints about Apple’s iPhone–and one that did not get solved with the launch of the iPhone 3G–is the lack of a copy-paste function. An independent developer Zac White has taken matters in his own hands and founded a non-profit, open source, community project called which is offering iPhone developers a free Copy and Paste framework that will add this functionality to their applications.
Installer 4.0b5 is out

Installer 4.0 beta 5 is avaliable now.
What's new:
- Many visual enhancements and fixes in regards to source and packages display.
- Fixed an issue with failing installs with dependencies under some circumstances.
- Fixed a bug causing package information to be displayed incorrectly (size 0 bytes) on the first access, or when the custom information HTML page (such as packages from Big Boss' repository) was not displayed.
- When updating a package, and one of its dependencies also has an update available, the dependency will be updated as well.
- The package icons will only be downloaded when on the Wi-Fi to help you save on bandwidth.
- The repositories are being refreshed upon Installer.app launch so you always stay on the bleeding edge with the updates. This is exeperimental behavior and we're not yet sure it will make it to the final release.
- Fixed a script command Confirm that was returning invalid button index for the "OK" button.
- Lots and lots of both cosmetic and internal application core fixes that improve the overall performance, presentation and stability of the application.
Community Sources package is updated. It now includes a repository for modmyifone.com (lot's of stuff there) and iphone-notes.de (BSD Subsystem and OpenSSH), as well as numerous carrier bundles and other useful stuff.
