Now Adobe’s Flash Builder and Flex framework supports iPhone and iPad

This morning Adobe announced a large number of software updates to the Flex Framework and Flash Builder that will make it possible for developers to create projects for BlackBerry PlayBook, iPhone and iPad, besides Android support that was implemented in April.

Now version 4.5 of Flex and Flash are added to Creative Suite 5.5 Web Premium and Master Collection, but also they can be bought separately (Flash Builder Standard for 249$, Premium for 669$). In a blog post Adobe’s Puneed Goel gave praises to the release:

As a result, developers can quickly build and distribute apps through the Android Market, BlackBerry App World and Apple App Store using one tool chain, programming language and code base—a first for developers!

Adobe boasts about how simple it is to develop ActionScript and Flex apps and use them on a great number of mobile platforms with the help of Adobe AIR in this video. This is certainly a good thing that allows developers to create code once and after compiling the code run it on the majority of mobile platforms making minimal changes in it.

If only that tools could also show good performance...
