Resuming the Apple's Q4 conference call
For those who have no time or desire to read the entire transcript of Steve Jobs’ Apple Q4 Earnings Call, here are the most interesting facts he revealed during the speech.
- Apple has sold 14.1 million iPhones, 3.89 million Macs (2,6 million notebooks and 1,29 million desktops) and 4.19 million iPads for the last quarter.
- The total profit in fourth fiscal period is $4,46 billion.
- Sales in Asia Pacific generated $2.7 billion in revenue. Europe accounted for $5.4 billion, while America was $7.2 billion.
- Total iPhones' sales value was nearly $8.6 billion, which leads to conclusion that the average selling price for the device is about $610.
- Total revenue from selling iPads is $2.8 billion.
- Over 65 companies from the Fortune Top-100 list are already trying or deploying the iPad. They include Lowes, Hyatt, NBC Universal and Procter & Gamble.
- Last month there were sold 120 million of iOS devices.
- Total number of iPods sold is 9 million, which 4 percent less in comparison to the same period of last year.
- According to Oppenheimer, the iPod share is still more than 70% on the USA market. It is also the top MP3 player overseas and its share keeps growing.
- iTunes revenue for the fourth quarter was more than $1B.
- Apple has already sold 250,000 Apple TVs and Jobs is "thrilled with that".
- 16 stores were opened this quarter in Beijing, Shanghai and London. Now Apple has 317 stores worldwide. 84 of them are outside of the U.S. Average revenue for every store was $11.8 million, which 52 percent more than a year ago.
- Over 40 stores are planned to be opened in the next year. Half of them will be situated overseas.
- The company sold 874,000 Macs (30% more than in the last year). Almost half of the customers told they never owned a Mac before.
- Retail quarterly sales were $3.5 billion, which is a record for Apple.
- In the next fiscal quarter Apple is going to gain $23 billion of revenue. The diluted earnings per share are expected to be about $4.80 with gross margins to be nearly 36%.
