The Complete Transcript of Steve Jobs' Apple Q4 Earnings Call
Here's the Apple CEO in his own words talking during Apple Q4 Earnings Call:
Hi, everybody. As most of you know, I don’t usually participate in Apple earnings calls, since you’re all in such capable hands with Peter and Tim. But I just couldn’t help dropping by for our first 20-billion-dollar quarter. I’d like to chat about a few things, and then stay for the rest of the Q&A, if that’s all right.
First, let me discuss iPhone. We sold 14.1 million iPhones in the quarter, which represents a 91 percent unit growth over the year-ago quarter, and was well ahead of IDC’s latest published estimate of 64 percent growth for the global smartphone market in the September quarter. And it handily beats RIM’s 12.1 million BlackBerrys sold, in their most recent quarter ending in August.

Steve Jobs crushes hopes of 7-inch iPad
It was a real surprise when Steve Jobs appeared at the financial results conference call for Apple's Q4 2010 results. He commented some topics, including launch of rumored 7-inch iPad. Jobs criticized such size, saying that it was too small:
iPhone 4 Variation Hits Final Field Testing Stage? iPhone 5 at Engineering Verification Test Stage?
Boy Genius Report’s source claims that Apple almost completes the final field testing of a tweaked version of the iPhone 4, known as "iPhone3,2", which is expected to be the Verizon or CDMA-compatible iPhone 4 model. The iPhone3,2 will have similar SIM card slot to iPhone 4 slot, which is not suitable for CDMA phone. Perhaps, Apple is going to release model, which will provide support for both GSM and CDMA and will be compatible with all carriers. The source also reports that the fifth-generation iPhone has entered the "engineering verification test" stage, which the CDMA-based iPhone 4 completed in May.
More MacBook Air rumors, fast boot, lower prices
Cult of Mac’s sources in Apple provide a new portion of information about a next-gen MacBook Air, which is expected to be released during the Apple's media event on Wednesday. Here is a short summary:

It is controlled by an iPad application. First of all, he iPad finds your location via GPS and sends it to the car. The autonomous cab can find you, pick you up, and take you wherever you want. Moreover, you may track the cab’s movement and scanner information directly from the iPad.
Motorola wants to prove 11 Apple patents are invalid
Last week Motorola filed another complaint in a U.S. District Court in Delaware. Current company's approach is to invalidate 11 patents that were awarded to NeXT Software and Apple (which are both known to be founded by Steve Jobs).
It is said in Motorola's suit that these patents were named in Apple's complaints against HTC and other handset makers that use Google's Android OS in their smartphones. That explains why company wants to prove that these patents are invalid.
Here is the list of the patents that were named in the lawsuit:
Don’t Laugh: ear pad for separation between ear and iPhone
Designer Robert Potter has created the Earos Earcushion device – quite unusual contraction to make comfortable separation between your ear and iPhone. It may be used to provide convenient padding to your ear as well as display stand. The thing is universal; it hooks it up to most phone models. It rotates on two sided to provide access to a screen.
In The Code: FaceTime To Have Multi-Chat Feature
Now FaceTime may be used only via Wi-Fi, users should have iPhone 4 or iPod touch 4G. But FaceTime could soon surprise us. Recently was found some interesting FaceTime лун in iOS code, which demonstrates that soon it can receive multi-chat feature. It means that FaceTime may enable multiparty conference calls with 3 or more people.
Tethering settings removed from iPad 4.2 Beta 3
Tethering settings were added to 3G iPads after iOS 4.2 beta 2 for iPad was released. It may mean that Apple was going to add iPhone-like tethering to WiFi + 3G models of the iPad. But in newly realized iPad 4.2 beta 3 was discovered that Apple had removed such settings (see picture, earlier the tethering options were under the ‘Cellular Data’ fields). May be we will see these features in new iOS 4.2 in November or may be it was only mistake, and Apple is not planned for a future iPad software release.
iPad Makes Its Way to the Farthest Places of the Earth
Apple’s iPad is so popular round the world, and it’s not surprisingly that people from the areas that Apple hasn’t yet reached, want to obtain this device. Sometime they have to trip pretty long distances to get it.
Found an early prototype next-gen MacBook Air
Last week Engadget posts a single shot of a prototype MacBook Air. The prototype device is labeled "K18". On the picture they found USB plugs on the left and right sides of device, Mini DisplayPort and an SD card reader on the left, and a power plug on the right. The prototype on the picture is the same size and style, has the same "large single mouse button", same 1.86 GHz Core 2 Duo SL9400 processor and 2GB of RAM as the current model of MacBook Air. Engadget’s source claims that the shot was made early in April. Moreover, а new SSD Card storage is rumored to be installed in upcoming MacBook Air. It's possible that such SSD Cards will resemble a stick of RAM.
