The mobile Yandex.Traffic Lite application allows monitor road traffic in real time for efficient route planning. The application shows traffic in four Russain cities: Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Yekaterinburg and Kiev. It is easy to use: just turn it on and choose the city. The application features scalable maps, and also shows the traffic congestion score and its tendency. The application requires active internet connection to function.

The app is free and avaliable via AppStore (link).

reMail Search is a new application available for free in AppStore (link). It allows users to perform accurate searches in emails. There is an automatic completion of keywords in the search mode, so you can find neccesary emails very quickly.

reMail Search also works offline. The application, in fact, downloads e-mails keeping them in the cache on your iPhone / iPod Touch. reMail Search also works with all IMAP accounts, such as Gmail. The application is compatible with iPhone and iPod Touch, requires upgrading to firmware 2.2 and is localized in English.

Internet connection is required only for Word of the Day, audio pronunciations and similarly spelled words.

The University of Stanford created an iPhone related course for iTunes U. The first lesson will help developers to create iPhone applications, almost from scratch.

Clippy is an iPhone addition for copy/paste functionality. It was updated to version 0.98. There are significant improvements that make the application much more stable, and moreover it is important to note that starting from now, Clippit becomes a completely free.

Mjoy application allowed you to send free SMS messages from your iPhone and iTouch. Apple removed it from App Store, certainly because of complaints from mobile operators.

The application allowed to send SMS via WiFi and 3G, and therefore could be used wherever you were (which is quite inconvenient for the operators). Now it remains accessible to the webapp accessed through Safari www.mjoy.com, but certainly is not the same thing.

GigaOM reports that an iPhone version of Skype may be released as soon as next week, possibly at the CTIA Wireless trade show in Las Vegas.

A few months ago, I asked Skype CEO Josh Silverman when was he going to launch the iPhone version of the P2P voice and IM service that has now been downloaded more than 405 million times. He smiled and said, "Stay tuned." And so we did.

A tipster, a very reliable one, tells me that Skype is almost ready to launch that iPhone version, perhaps as soon as next week. CTIA Wireless, a large mobile industry trade event, kicks off in Las Vegas next Wednesday, so perhaps the announcement will be made there. I am working on getting more details, as well as screenshots of the service.

For now we can use Fring, which is free and works just fine.

The original Wolfenstein is now available for free for the iPhone. You need to jailbreak your phone to get in on the fun. The game is truly a classic. This is a first-person shooter in which we should govern our character among many doors and endless mazes. The controls are "fairly" good, based solely on the touch screen.

Clippy is an iPhone addition from Cydia for copy/paste functionality. It was updated to version 0.97-2. The main bug that was fixes is a crash of different applications such as Notes, Safari, Mail and others where the animation was drawn. New version also added a language pack, improved the animation of the menu, full support for selecting editable text in web views, themes support and a lot more.
