Sony Is Working On iPad competitor
According to Wall Street Journal, Sony is planning to launch a line of products, potential competitors of Apple devices. With the smartphone from Sony a user will be able to download and play Playstation games. Underway are the plans for another device, which will combine e-reader, PSP and netbook. Sony is also planning to create Online Service to distribute television shows, movies, games and music to the devices.
10 reasons not to buy the iPad
Debra Shinder from
- There is no physical keyboard (or you need to buy an Apple Bluetooth Keyboard).
- One size doesn’t fit all (it doesn’t fill the gap between mobiles and netbooks as 9.7” inches is an exact screen size of netbook, and you cannot put it into your pocket).
- It runs iPhone OS (so there is no multi-tasking).
- There’s not enough storage (and you cannot expand it via USB-flashdrives).
- There’s no HDMI output or camera (if you can watch video, why you can’t make videoconferences with your friends?).
- There are no USB ports (and you would not be able to connect your own web-cam, for example).
- There is no flash memory slot.
- The price is not right (it just seems to be illogical to pay 200$ for additional 48 GB )
- It is locked in. All apps are in AppStore, and good ones cost money.
- It is all about network (why should people change their internet provider to AT&T just because of purchasing some new device?).
While Debra compares fully-equipped 829$ iPad with a powerful and though compact laptop, it seems like she’s looking for an ability to make use of all its capacities. On the other hand,

Ten New Rumors on the Apple iTablet
Want to know some more about Apple’s upcoming iTablet device? There are many rumor names (iTablet, iPad, MacBook Touch, etc), but not much details. Site ilounge claim to receive some new rumors from a reliable source:
- Apple has created at least three separate prototypes of its tablet computer.
- Version 1 was designed with a 7” screen, which was judged to be too small. The latest version has a 10.7” screen.
- It runs iPhone OS.
- There have been reports that it looks like an iPhone. They’re sort of true. It looks like an iPhone 3G, complete with a curved back.
- It will come in two different variations: one with 3G networking capabilities, and one without 3G networking capabilities. Think of the 3G version as a bigscreen iPhone 3GS, and the non-3G version as a bigscreen iPod touch.
- Screen resolutions will obviously jump considerably from the iPhone and iPod touch 480x320-pixel displays, enabling easy reading of full-sized book and magazine pages, plus cropped newspaper pages. Expect something like 5-6 times the resolution of an iPod touch or iPhone screen (720p or thereabouts) and 7 times the touchable surface area.
- It is designed to expand the iPhone and iPod touch media concept to its next potential level: as a slate-like replacement for books and magazines, plus all of the media, gaming, app, and web functionality of the iPhone and iPod touch.
- It is not meant to compete with netbooks. It’s an iPhone OS media player and light communication device.
- Apple is currently planning to announce it on or before January 19, 2010, and to use an iPhone-like hype buildup period to start selling it in May or June.
- It is apparently awaiting a final green light from Steve Jobs; chances of it appearing in the market are believed to be 80% at this point.
Not bad. But still this is unofficial..

New rumors about future iPhone
Here are some new rumors about future iPhone from AT&T staff:
- New iPhone announcement around mid-June
- New iPhone will be faster and have a more seamless experience unmatched by any device (could be just talking about 3.0, but we think it’s also a new iPhone)
- U-Verse iPhone application; will allow control of your home DVR (play, pause, rewind, etc.)
- AT&T is said to be working with Apple to create a unified product with an unparalleled experience across all their products and services.
- Apple’s 3.0 software should tell us where the iPhone platform is going… uh, k?
- They said customers shouldn’t need to choose from AT&T’s high-end devices because of features, they should choose based on preferences. The gap in capability should be filled with the new iPhone. Ok, bets on slide out QWERTY, autofocus camera, video sharing, blah blah?
- Seems like the higher speed HSDPA (7.2Mbps) is being hinted at too which should confirm the earlier rumors of the new Infineon chipset.
- The $99 3G netbook will start selling this summer, and the first one won’t be a Windows OS.
