27-year-old Mac Hacked to Browse the Web





A guy named Jeff Keacher has recently successfully hacked a 27-year-old Mac Plus to make it browse the Internet. Although it takes 2 minutes for the computer to read the task and about 4 minutes to render the page, it works! One can actually open an Internet page using a 27-year-old Mac.

Here’s what iClarified writes:

The Mac Plus features a 8 MHz CPU, 4 MB RAM, 50 MB hard drive, and 512 x 342 pixel black-and-white screen. To accomplish his goals, Keacher needed a web browser, a TCP/IP stack, and some way to connect the computer to his home network.

As Keacher admits, the most difficult task was to connect the Mac to the network for the first time. There were some other problems too, nevertheless, they were solved.
