Dong Nguyen Told Why He Removed Flappy Bird from the App Store

You’ve probably heard about Flappy Bird - one of the most popular games on the App Store that was on Sunday for some unknown reason removed by its author - Dong Nguyen. As he tweeted earlier, this happened not because of legal issues or stuff like that. But why then?

According to what the developer told Forbes (via iClarified), he decided to take down the game because it became an “addictive product”.

“Flappy Bird was designed to play in a few minutes when you are relaxed,” says Dong Nguyen. “But it happened to become an addictive product. I think it has become a problem. To solve that problem, it’s best to take down Flappy Bird. It’s gone forever.”

There’re two more games on the App Store developed by Dong Nguyen, namely, Super Ball Juggling and Shuriken Block. It is interesting whether the author will remove these apps in case they become “addictive”.
