Holiday sales of Apple's products are stronger than expected

deutsche-report

Another note to investors was posted by Chris Whitmore from Deutsche Bank, where he indicates that Apple had sold more iPads and Macs than it was previously expected. The demand for the iPhone didn't also slow down, though rumors on CDMA-enabled version of the device could cause that.

These holidays Deutsche Bank visited more than fifty stores to find that there were lines and crowds of people who would like to buy the latest iPhone, and Apple was prepared for that.

finalcut

Yesterday French site HardMac reported that Final Cut Studio along with Final Cut Pro will presumably receive an update in March or at the beginning of April. It was noticed that the new software will be a "substantial update when compared to the previous version", though it is possible it won't have new features expected by "Pro" users.

"Two versions are already running at beta level, one for Snow Leopard, and one for Lion. Some new features will only be available on Lion's version, due to the changes made on QuickTime layer."

Next-gen iPad case listings were removed because of legitimate request

As you may remember, a month ago few cases purported to be for the next-gen iPad were spotted online. They had space for rear camera and a cutout on the bottom admittedly made for SD-card slot. Later other cases were unveiled on the international trading site Alibaba.com, which showed that there is a large speaker grille on the back of the case.

According to the Wall Street Journal, last week Alibaba.com was requested to remove the listings of the cases presumably designed for the next-gen iPad.

ipad_panel

Last week another DigiTimes report had revealed that Apple ordered approximately 35 million iPad displays from LG and another 30 million from Chimei Innolux and Samsung.

According to the publication, these huge numbers show that Apple "is very optimistic about the tablet PC market in 2011, and it may also mean that Apple is overbooking panel capacity".

Apple confirms New Year's alarm bug, says to wait until Jan 3

Non-repeating alarms fail to ring on the first few days of the new year. As reported, the issue  affects devices running the iOS 4.2.1, the latest version of iOS. Apple recommends users to set recurring alarms until January 3, when the alarms will resume working properly.

Apple spokesperson Natalie Harrison said: “We are aware of an issue related to non repeating alarms set for January 1 or 2. Customers can set recurring alarms for those dates and all alarms will work properly beginning January 3.”

Is Rubyra1n Geohot’s Next Jailbreak Tool?

rubyra1n

May be soon we will jailbreak our devices with a new tool from George Hotz (better known as Geohot) called Rubyra1n. On March 27, 2010 George Hotz registered two domains limera1n.com and blackra1n.com, another jailbreak tool Hotz released last year. The new rubyra1n, however, doesn’t share the same data with limera1n.com — an app released in October to jailbreak iOS 4.1. Geohot doesn’t comment these rumors anyhow, but we, obviously, wouldn’t be surprised at all to see him coming out with his own iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak for all devices.
