27-inch iMac production can be improved in the next month

Apple's 27-inch iMac continues to be in short supply, as Apple sets deadline for delivery of new online orders 3-4 weeks. 21.5-inch models have been delivering within 7-10 days. Even before the launch of the new iMac, it was expected that the device will be in short supply in the 2013, in connection with questions on assembly of new displays. The process involves laminating the screen directly on device's glass.

Now DigiTimes reports that issues related to lamination screen are still valid for LG Display, since production of 27-inch monitors is far below the 21.5 inch displays.

"LG Display has reportedly been facing full lamination issues while producing the panels, slowing down shipments of the 27-inch device to 100,000 units a month, added the sources.

LG Display, however, has secured strong yields for Apple's new 21.5-inch model, which currently has reached monthly shipments of 300,000-400,000 units, noted the sources."

The report also mentioned that LG Electronics is moving in a direction to improve the quality of the displays, as well as availability that is expected next month. Increasing productivity can eliminate the main obstacle in the production of the iMac, which leads to increased availability and shorter delivery time for new orders.

The updated iMac from Apple is considerably thinner than its predecessor. Changes that are received through a number of technological developments, such as lamination to create more subtle and bright displays, as well as the use of advanced methods of welding. However, these methods limit the production of larger models of iMac.
