Apple Reportedly in Talks with Insurance Companies Over HealthKit
According to the latest report from Bloomberg, the guys from Cupertino are currently in talks with major U.S. insurance companies, which include UnitedHealth and Humana, over the possibility of using the HealthKit platform. Apple says that this platform can be utilized for collecting data required for insurance firms and various medical providers.
Earlier this month, a similar report surfaced online that suggested that the guys from Cupertino were promoting both HealthKit and Health app for iOS 8 among the health institutions across the USA.
In a report on rising medical costs and partnerships between insurance providers, corporate employers, and fitness device makers, Bloomberg suggests that Apple has spoken with insurance companies about HealthKit, but no specifics on the conversation were provided.
HealthKit platform was first introduced at the Worldwide Developers Conference this year. The software platform allows to create various apps to monitor the state of health of a person. Today, however, the only application based on HealthKit is Apple's Health app that is expected to be added to iOS 8.
