Third OS X Yosemite Public Beta and Developer Preview 8 Are Out
Apple on Monday released the third public OS X Yosemite beta to those who has previously registered as a beta tester. Apart from that, the guys from Cupertino seeded OS X Yosemite Developer Preview 8, which contains a number of minor stability improvements and security updates. If to take into consideration the time of the releases, we may assume that these two OS X versions are identical. However, such an assumption hasn't yet been confirmed neither by developers, nor by Apple, so take it with a few pinches of salt.
The new public beta can boast of Recovery Update 3.0 and is recommended for all users running Yosemite. Apart from that, the third public beta includes the improvements found in OS X Yosemite Developer Preview 7, for example, a slightly redesigned Dark Mode, the lack of the "Software Update" option in the main Apple menu and new icons for a number of apps.
The latest public beta is available via the Software Update section of the Mac App Store. Apart from that, those who have a developer account can download OS X Yosemite Developer Preview 8 from Apple's developer portal.
