iPhone Sales in 2016 May Be Lower Than in 2014 - Analyst

According to the latest report published by reliable KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple’s iPhone shipments in 2016 may be lower than those of 2014. The expert believes that due to the lack of ‘attractive’ updates in the iPhone 7, the company may ship around 190-205 million iPhone units this year. Under the “worst case scenario,” Apple may become the only top-five rating vendor to see a decline in smartphone shipments. Depending on the actual sales results, the decline may account for 11.6% or 18.1% year-over-year.

The report predicts that under the worst case scenario, Apple will ship 190 million iPhones during 2016, which is lower than the 193 million it shipped in 2014. In the best case scenario, the company could ship 205 million devices. That’s a decline of 18.1 percent and 11.6 percent year-over-year, respectively.

Ming-Chi Kuo has a good track record, so his predictions can be called trustworthy. As noted by expert, despite poor results in 2016, Apple may come back to the top of the market thanks to the completely revamped iPhone model with new external design and set of advanced features.
