TSMC Completes Design of A11 Chip for iPhone 7s - Rumor

According to the latest report from reliable insiders, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) has already completed the design of the 10-nanometer A11 chip that is expected to be used in the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus. As noted by DigiTimes, first samples for testing may be ready in the first quarter and the mass production of new processors may start in the second quarter of 2017. First devices with new chips on board will be released in the second half of 2017, sources add.

Sources tell the site that TSMC expects to achieved certification on its 10nm process in the fourth quarter of 2016. It will deliver product samples for validation in the first quarter of 2017.

The exact name of the iPhone that Apple plans to release in 2017 as well as the specs of the upcoming device remain unknown. In 2016, the company should unveil the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus or Pro with updated processors, better cameras and a number of other improvements. The handsets may feature a new design and become slightly thinner than their predecessors.
