First Look: Apple's new Mac OS X 10.7 Lion
As already known, the new Apple’s Mac OS X 10.7 Lion is planed to be released next summer. New operating system will adopt some iOS features. Now Apple works to bring many of its mobile innovations into the next version of Mac OS X 10.7. So, Apple will add the following the mobile-optimized features to the Mac from iOS:
- Expanded multitouch gestures (Apple won’t use a vertical multitouch screen, instead it focuses on touchpad. The company carried out research and concluded that it "does not work");
- App Store for Mac (that means easy shopping, software updates, and simple installation for Mac-users);
- LaunchPad (Apple believes that current Mac OS X Dock needs to be replace with the new LaunchPad, which makes it easy to present an iPad-like array of app icons to choose from and organize into iOS-like Folders);
- A new Zoom to full screen mode (The green Zoom button on the Mac window title bar will allow to go full screen; previously, it set the window to be as large as possible);
- Mission Control (makes it easier to select and organize apps, jump between apps that present individual windows (such as Safari) and apps that present a full screen workspace (such as the new iPhoto 11);
- Auto Save features for app documents;
- Apps that resume when launched.
