Digital Publishing Suite Will Support Newsstand For iOS 5

Today Adobe announced that Digital Publishing Suite will support Apple upcoming Newsstand service for iOS 5. Newsstand feature is designed to serve as the organization centre for digital subscriptions in Apple’s iOS 5, allowing users to easily access the recent content downloaded in background mode.

Digital Publishing Suite will allow publishers to prepare digital editions of their newspaper and magazine applications that automatically transfer content to the Newsstand service of iOS 5. The program will begin support Apple’s service soon after the release of iOS 5 this fall.

Applications built with Adobe Digital Publishing Suite and enabled for Newsstand will allow publishers to better merchandise their content with support for Newsstand push notifications and icon covers displayed on the Newsstand shelf, reflecting the latest issue of the magazine or newspaper.

Many publishers including Reader’s Digest and Condé Nast have used Adobe’s publishing software to deliver their content to the iPad. So the launch of Newsstand compatibility in Adobe’s Digital Publishing Suite will significantly help make Newsstand the convenient service to manage digital subscription content on iOS devices.
