Apple Offers Trade-In Program for iPhone 5 with Faulty Sleep/Wake Button
A couple of days ago, Apple announced that there're some iPhone 5 models with faulty Sleep/Wake buttons. The company promised to repair all of the defective handsets for free and claimed that was the only way out for users.
Well, as it turns out, there's another one. You can trade in your iPhone 5 for $350. Of course, the device should be in perfect condition and contain no other defects apart from the Sleep/Wake button issue
Here's what
According to internal documents furnished to Apple employees this weekend, US customers who make a Genius Bar appointment for the known sleep/wake issue can opt to trade-in their device and may receive up to $350 (or $370 in Canada) in credit, which is $80 over the current maximum for non-affected devices.
For some unknown reason Apple employees aren't allowed to tell about the iPhone 5 trade-in program unless the customer asks about upgrading to a newer model.
