Apple Releases iOS 4.2.1 Golden Master to Developers

While we were all waiting for Apple to finally release iOS 4.2 to the general public, the company seeded a new golden master of iOS 4.2, known as iOS 4.2.1, to developers. Apple has instructed developers not to resubmit their applications under the new build, suggesting that this new version only fixes some minute bugs and no new features have been added.

Software that has the golden master status is typically final code that will be released to the public. However, Apple already seeded two golden masters of iOS 4.2 to developers: the first one for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch on November 1, and the second specifically for the iPad. This new GM release is obviously bad news, as it means we’ll have to wait iOS 4.2 general public release a bit longer. Let’s hope this is the very last!
