Apple to open Palo Alto store on Saturday
On Saturday, Apple opened a retail store in downtown of Palo Alto, California. The new store, which is less than two quarter away from the present location of the Apple, ia a shop with glass front part, similar to other Apple retail stores, but it is covered by black fence.
Apple doesn’t talk a lot about the store. On the website you can see the teaser, but it reflects only a small part of what customers could see on Saturday. The front part of the store and the roof are made from glass and concrete parts at each corner of the support structure of the building. As described in the city documents, the store will have about 15,000 square feet (about 1,400 square meters) of retail space. The design differs from the existing Apple store in Palo Alto, which was first opened in October 2001, and had the honor of being Steve Jobs’ local Apple store. Both shops are situated in Palo Alto.
In a few minutes away from the Stanford Shopping Center, there is a much bigger Apple store that is under construction. Apple already has a store in the Mall, but it's small and it seems particularly narrow, since Microsoft opened its largest building in April this year. New Stanford shop is at an early stage of construction. Steel frame which will keep the glass shell of the store was still visible Friday morning.
