Apple To Update MacBook Air And MacBook Pro In June 2013

DigiTimes reports that Apple has informed Taiwan-based suppliers that MacBook Air and MacBook Pro lines will see updates in June 2013. DigiTimes' sources also said that Apple will not make any major external design changes to MacBook Airs, but will use a "new processor platform" in the line.

The report also notes that Ultrabook vendors are concerned that Apple will likely lower the prices for current MacBook Airs before the release of the new models. However, such a move would be fairly unusual for Apple as the company rarely reduces the prices of existing models before the launch of updated devices.

In August, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo shared his expectations regarding Apple’s 2013 plans. His predictions in the top part of the above image have already come true. He believes that Apple will consolidate the MacBook Pro back into a single line in 2013. Reportedly, the new MacBooks will also use Intel’s new Haswell processors that are said to debut between March and June next year.
