Apple Watch 2 to Get Separate GPS Chip and Become Waterproof - Rumor
Alongside the iPhone 7, Apple may also unveil the Apple Watch 2. According to the latest rumors, this device will be equipped with a separate GPS chip for better tracking of user’s activity and possibly some security enhancements. Apart from that, the new Watch may get an improved Workout app capable of tracking swimming activity. This gives us a hint about possible water resistance of the wearable device.
Even though the information above is based entirely on rumors from unidentified sources, it’s quite possible that Apple will release a waterproof smartwatch as the current version performs quite well in water resistance tests.
While Apple has not declared the current Apple Watch waterproof, users have found that it holds up well in Splash, Shower, and Swimming tests.
The source of this information does not have a proven track record; however, the improvements do seem like a logical progression of Apple's plans.
The next-generation Apple Watch will be running watchOS 3 that was announced during the WWDC keynote. The operating system is now much faster and has a number of new features.
