Apple Working on 'Photo Streaming' and Other Social Features in iOS
Apple seems to be working on integrating more social features to iOS. The code (see below) found in the latest iOS 4.3 beta 2 has revealed that Apple is planning to bring Photo and Media Streaming to its devices. There are several files and folders references to two new features related to MobileMe called “Photo Stream” and “Media Stream”. Apple is likely to be working on a serious MobileMe overhaul to offer social networking functionalities that would appear in iOS 5.
“Media Stream” folder contains some information about “Photo Streaming.” It appears that Apple will let iPhone users set up “Photo Streams” that friends could “subscribe” to and choose who is allowed to view your photos. Photo Stream uploads and stores the last thirty days of your photos on MobileMe and downloads them to all of your devices. “Media Stream” function is likely to be closely connected with Find My Friends fount in the first beta and will allow users to stream music and videos from MobileMe, or back and forth between iOS devices.
