AT&T will support 'HD Voice' feature

All Things D reported that AT&T announced the implementation of broadband audio or "HD voice" in the iPhone 5.

The technology provides a significantly better quality of calls when both devices support this type of network. T-Mobile has announced that it will support such a function on the iPhone 5 together with the AT&T, which is the second supplier of HD voice services in the United States.

"Speaking on Monday, AT&T senior VP Kris Rinne said that the carrier will roll-out its own support for the technology later this year as it begins to route voice calling over its LTE network.

"HD Voice is part of our voice over LTE strategy," Rinne said, speaking at the VentureBeat Mobile Summit in Sausalito, Calif."

Gizmodo tested the iPhone 5 through T-Mobile after running function, and reported that the quality of HD Voice calls "a bit richer and definitely fuller ... a noticeable." All Things D noted that Sprint was also examining the possibility of HD voice support in the future.
