Cloud Gaming Company OnLive Releases Its App For Tablets And Mobile Platforms

The pioneer of cloud gaming OnLive has announced the release of its playable app for tablets and mobile devices. Now top-tier, console-class games that was previously limited only to computers and consoles are available for playing through the free OnLive app on more than half a million mobile devices over mobile networks and Wi-Fi in the UK and US.

OnLive allows playing console-quality games on mobile devices, Macs, TVs, PCs by streaming games from its central servers. The user device need not be very powerful and fast to display high resolution graphics – it simply has to process a video data of the game while the app sends user controls back to the central server.

According to OnLive, 25 console-quality games have been modified to include touch controls. Users can play the game via touch interface or using Universal OnLive Wireless Controller costing $49.99. Also games that were bought on one OnLive device can be played on another devices with save data of the game intact.

The free OnLive app for iPad is already available for downloading and according to Techcrunch, support for iPhone is coming soon. The app is free, however users need to pay for games which are available through Onlive’s PlayPack Bundle or per title. Anyone who downloads the OnLive app receives LEGO Batman™: The Videogame for free.
