Consumer Groups In 11 EU Countries Request Apple To Change AppleCare Policy

In December last year AFP reported that Italian anti-trust regulators fined Apple $1.2 million for misleading commercial practices relating to AppleCare warranties. According to the decision of Italian competitor regulator, Apple’s AppleCare warranties have failed to inform consumers of a 2-year mandatory warranty required by EU law.

Today Bloomberg reports that consumers groups from eleven European countries have requested Apple to change its AppleCare policies and immediately end its current practices on the warranties.

Apple plans to appeal the $1.2 million fine imposed by Italian competitor regulator on March 21. The company has already posted the initial anti-trust ruling on its website, but the consumer groups are also requesting it to make changes to its warranty policies and inform consumers about the changes in policies on Apple.com.
