Firmware Updates Address Charging Issues With 2007-2008 MacBooks

Yesterday Apple released a pair of firmware updates for the 2007-2008 MacBook and MacBook Pro models. These updates should solve the problems connecting with fact that machines not charging properly when used with the new "L-shaped" MagSafe power adapters. Apple redesigned the MagSafe adapter in early 2010. The new adapter routes the power cable back instead of jutting out perpendicular to the machine. Apple initially used the "L-shaped" MagSafe adapter for the MacBook Air, as its slimmer profile and cord orientation enabled the connector to fit the notebook's form factor without hindering its ability to rest on flat surfaces.

The "overwhelmingly positive" results from the test program were surprising, said vice president of marketing Andreas Hinrichs. "The feedback was so positive." Dealers use the iPad to apply for loans and fill out paperwork keeping customers on the showroom floor. Although the test program did not provide conclusive evidence that buyers are more willing to purchase a vehicle if they stay in the showroom, Mercedes-Benz made its decision.

Supplier Denies Shipping iMac Touchscreens to Apple

Barry Wu, VP and spokesperson of Sintek Photronics has denied reports that the company is sampling projected capacitive touch panels for Apple's iMac. Rumors appeared after new Apple patent application, which suggested that the company is at least toying with the idea of a touch-capable iMac.
