Foxconn Closes Factory in Vietnam
Apple's main supplier - Foxconn - has been forced to close its factory in Vietnam for three days. The reason for such a step is a protest over oil drilling.
China has recently began drilling for oil near Paracel Islands in the South China Sea and that caused mass protests in the region. Several people have been killed.
As noted by
Violence already forced manufacturers associated with shoemakers Nike and Adidas, as well as Walmart, to halt productions. And now, as a cautionary measure, Foxconn has done the same, according to the Financial Times.
Foxconn has temporarily stopped the production on its Vietnamese factory and asked the workers to stay at home for several days. And this is the right choice in such a situation, I guess.
